Abode on the Snow: when a British electronic music festival sets up its decks in Val Thorens

Abode is a UK-based event promoter specialising in electronic music. Abode on the Snow is its winter spin-off: a week in the snow for 1,600 participants, with °F7 Val Thorens as base camp for the VIPs and the main stage for the après-ski parties.

The context: 85 rooms booked in a hotel that stays open to all

Abode buys blocks of rooms at °F7 to house its staff, its DJs and its VIP participants, around 85 people over one week. The rest of the hotel carries on welcoming its usual guests. And on three evenings during the week, the terrace and Le Zinc become stages for the Abode line-up, open to several hundred people.

The challenge: bringing two worlds together under one roof

An electronic music festival and skiers on a family holiday under the same roof, without either disturbing the other, even at night. Living side by side is managed on every floor, every night, with particular attention paid to individual guests who did not choose to find themselves in the middle of a festival.

The solution delivered by °Fahrenheit Seven Val Thorens

Three après-ski parties across the week — Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday: the terrace from 3pm to 7pm (up to 700 people), then Le Zinc from 10pm to 1am (up to 200 people). Le Zinc is closed to regular service on those evenings. Each event is a set-up in its own right, with its own welcome and its own bar.

An indoor VIP bar for hotel guests — Just as for the big terrace events, a VIP bar is opened inside the hotel so that resident guests can soak up the atmosphere without queuing alongside the public.

A reinforced team at every event — Service, bar, security: staffing is tailored to the capacity and specific crowd of each après-ski so that the atmosphere stays festive and under control.

Joint communication in advance — °F7 and Abode co-promote the après-ski parties on social media, to amplify the event and maximise attendance on both sides.

A personalised welcome for Abode's CEO — Joe Daly, founder and CEO of Abode, stays at °F7 for the whole week, with a dedicated welcome and personal follow-up throughout his stay.

The result: two years in a row, in the same place

Abode on the Snow was held at °F7 Val Thorens two years running, a sign that the partnership delivered on its promises on both sides, for the promoter and the hotel alike.
